-
Do psychedelics in a controlled setting.
-
Learn your strength. Find a situation where it’s actually a weakness. Engage until you improve significantly.
-
Go on a walk for a really, really, really long time. Alone.
-
Travel somewhere with significantly different culture- long enough to live like a local (Usually at least one month). Bonus points if it’s somewhere you have a bad image of.
-
Do something really hard/painful, but that you know won’t physically harm you: fasting 24 hours (if you’re healthy); a really cold shower / ice bath; staying off the internet for a week.
-
Talk to someone who hates you until they either like you or hate you twice as much.
-
Do nothing (literally) for extended periods of time. Works best if you’re not depressed.
-
Go to a prayer a few times a week. You don’t need to be religious for this to work.
-
Pick up a meditation practice. This works better if you know what you’re looking for.
-
Go camping somewhere people don’t really camp. Do as many things from scratch as possible (cooking, housing, food gathering).
-
Watch a really bad movie (like The Room). This also works for anything where you’re used to only seeing the top performers.
-
Talk earnestly to a mentally ill person, a conspiracy theorist, an outcast, a prostitute.
-
Read a book that is at least a few hundred years old. More generally, learn history where established routines, facts, and behaviors suddenly broke down. (Such as the time when spherical earth theory was considered a conspiracy.)
-
Pick up a writing practice - write until you can’t anymore. Repeat for a year.
-
Identify something important in your life you think you lack (health, education, money). Spend 24 hours with someone who has at least 2x less of that.
