Allen Coral Atlas mapped every shallow coral reef on the planet at roughly 5-metre resolution by pairing Planet’s daily satellite imagery with machine learning, then released it as a public good: habitat and bathymetry maps plus a monitoring system that flags bleaching events reef managers can act on. Begun with backing from Paul Allen’s Vulcan and now stewarded by Arizona State University, it’s the basemap coral conservation was missing.
